When kids read the newspaper, they learn about what’s happening around them — in their school, city, country, and even the world. This knowledge gives them interesting ideas and real facts they can use while speaking or during debates. It’s much easier to talk about something when you actually understand it!
Newspapers are full of exciting words and phrases. When kids read often, they learn new vocabulary and better ways to say things. This helps them speak more clearly and confidently. Instead of saying “good,” they might say “amazing,” “helpful,” or “important” — which sounds much better in a debate!
A great speaker or debater doesn’t just share their own opinion — they think about what others might say, too. Newspapers often show different sides of a story. This helps kids understand both views and prepare stronger arguments, whether they’re for or against a topic.
Knowing what’s going on in the world helps kids feel more ready to speak up. They won’t be scared to raise their hand in class or speak in front of others, because they’ll already have smart things to say. The more they read, the more confident they become!
